August 2013 (Upcoming Events)

Dear Friends,
I hope you are all having a wonderful summer! I have just returned from three great
trips - I played at fantastic events for lovely people. A thrilling summer so far.
I'll let know all the fun details in my year end newsletter.
Two great events are coming up; an Ottawa Japan Cultural Foundation Benefit
Concert on August 11 and the Toronto 'Light From The Super Earth' CD release
concert on September 19.
The Japan Benefit Concert in Ottawa will be on Sunday, August 11 at 3:00. It will
feature Japanese music - traditional, contemporary and healing. Ian Hepburn will
join us with his lovely harp playing and Catriona Sturton will add shamisen.
My wonderful students will be playing with us for a few, beautiful pieces.
The featured artist will be Rebecca Cragg who will be creating Sui-Boku-Ga
paintings during the concert (an advanced type of Sumie brush painting).
These beautiful paintings will be won by lucky audience members!
Rebecca Cragg and I set up the Japan Cultural Foundation a year after the tsunami disaster. We had done some fundraising together to support Japan and we felt such
a heart connection between the people of Japan and Canada that we decided to continue
this fundraising - to keep this heart energy strong.
We will be inviting Japanese artists to join us here in Canada for some concerts to
promote healing for Japan. The foundation will help to support these events.
